1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup BBQ sauce, for topping
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, rolled oats, chopped onion, 1/4 cup BBQ sauce, milk, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Spread the remaining 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce over the top of the burger mixture.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the burgers are cooked through and the sauce is bubbly.
Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
This dish can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking. Add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
Leftovers can be cooled, covered, and frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight and reheat in the oven or microwave.
Serve with your favorite burger toppings like cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
