Make incredibly crispy chicken wings in your air fryer with this simple recipe. Perfect for game day or any party, these wings use a baking powder trick for extra crunch and offer options for dry rubs and sauces.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Optional: Your favorite wing sauce or dry rub

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. This is crucial for crispiness.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  3. Add the dried chicken wings to the bowl and toss until they are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
  4. Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  5. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through. The wings should be golden brown and crispy.
  6. If you want to sauce your wings, toss them in your favorite sauce immediately after removing them from the air fryer.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your crispy air fryer chicken wings.

Notes

  • Ensure your wings are completely dry before seasoning. Moisture is the enemy of crispiness.
  • Baking powder (not baking soda) is the key ingredient for achieving extra crispy skin.
  • For sauced wings, toss them in the sauce right after cooking while they are still hot.
  • If you prefer a dry rub, you can skip the saucing step and serve the wings as is.
