- 1 pound fettuccine pasta
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: cooked chicken, steamed broccoli
- Cook fettuccine according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
- While pasta cooks, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Pour in heavy cream and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
- Reduce heat to low and gradually whisk in Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Stir in salt and pepper.
- Add drained fettuccine to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat.
- If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.
- Serve immediately, adding optional chicken or broccoli if desired.
