  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

  1. Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg yolks one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  6. Prepare the topping: In a medium bowl, combine the shredded coconut and chopped pecans.

  8. Stir the coconut and pecan mixture into the frosting until evenly coated.
  9. Spread the coconut-pecan topping evenly over the chocolate filling.
  10. Chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
  11. Slice and serve.

Notes

  • For a firmer pie, you can add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to the chocolate filling mixture before cooking.
  • This pie can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
  • If you prefer a less sweet topping, reduce the amount of powdered sugar slightly.
  • Ensure your butter and eggs are at room temperature for the smoothest filling.
  • This recipe is a great option if you are looking for meal planning ideas for holiday desserts.
