Ingredients
Scale
2 cups cooked ham, finely chopped or ground
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sweet pickle relish
2 tablespoons finely chopped celery
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped (optional, for a richer salad)
Instructions
Place the chopped or ground ham into a medium mixing bowl.
Add the mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, chopped celery, Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, onion powder, and black pepper to the bowl. If using, add the chopped hard-boiled eggs now.
Mix all ingredients together thoroughly until everything is well combined and the mixture is creamy.
Taste the ham salad and adjust seasonings if needed. Add more mustard for tang or pepper for spice.
Cover the bowl and chill the ham salad in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Serve your savory ham salad on bread for a classic ham salad sandwich spread, with crackers, or in lettuce wraps for a low carb ham salad serving idea.
Notes
For the smoothest deli style ham salad texture, pulse the ham in a food processor until finely ground before mixing.
This make ahead ham salad keeps well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.
To make this a picnic ham salad, drain the relish very well before adding it to prevent excess moisture.
