Stop worrying about dry meat. This slow cooker turkey breast recipe delivers incredibly tender, moist turkey every time with minimal effort. It is perfect for weeknight dinners or stress-free holiday meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (3 to 5 lb) bone-in or boneless turkey breast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey breast dry using paper towels. This step helps the rub adhere better.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to create the herb rub.
  3. Rub the olive oil all over the surface of the turkey breast.
  4. Generously coat the entire turkey breast with the herb rub mixture.
  5. Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of your slow cooker.
  6. Place the seasoned turkey breast directly on top of the broth in the slow cooker.
  7. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours, or on HIGH for 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Cooking time depends on the size of the breast.
  8. The turkey is done when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers 165°F.
  9. Carefully remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker and let it rest on a cutting board, loosely tented with foil, for 15 minutes before slicing.
  10. Use the drippings left in the slow cooker to make a simple gravy if desired.

Notes

  • For an extra moist result, you can place sliced onions and carrots beneath the turkey breast before cooking.
  • If you are using a boneless turkey breast, reduce the cooking time slightly.
  • This recipe is excellent for meal prep; slice the leftover turkey and store it in airtight containers for up to four days.
